Adding students
Each assessment has its own student list. Students are added from the assessment screen.
Add a student manually
Section titled “Add a student manually”- Open the assessment from the home screen
- Click Add students and select Add single student
- Enter a name, and optionally a student ID and email
The student ID is for your reference — useful if you need to match exports with your gradebook.
Context fields
Section titled “Context fields”Context fields capture information about each student that helps AI draft better feedback. Common examples:
- Topic the student chose
- Project title
- Case study assigned
To add a context field:
- Open Edit setup and go to the Context fields tab
- Click Add field
- Enter a field name (e.g., “Topic”)
You fill in the values for each student during marking. When you generate feedback, AI sees these values and can reference them (e.g., “Your discussion of climate change showed…”).
Edit a student
Section titled “Edit a student”On the assessment screen, click the pencil icon on a student row to edit their name, ID, or email.
Delete a student
Section titled “Delete a student”Click the trash icon on a student row. You’ll be asked to confirm. If you’ve already marked them, their marking is also deleted. This cannot be undone.
Bulk actions
Section titled “Bulk actions”Select multiple students using the checkboxes, then use the bulk action buttons to clear marks or delete them all at once.
Bulk import
Section titled “Bulk import”To add multiple students at once:
- Click Add students and select Upload roster
- Paste your student data — one student per line, with name, ID, and email separated by tabs or commas
- Preview the parsed list and click Add students
This works well with data copied from Excel or a class roster. The expected format is flexible: just name, or name + ID, or name + ID + email.
Students across assessments
Section titled “Students across assessments”Each assessment has its own student list. If you run multiple IOAs with the same students, you’ll add them separately to each assessment.
This is intentional — it keeps assessments independent and avoids accidental cross-contamination of marks.
